Major Overview

APS Students obtain a strong foundation in science through courses in biology, chemistry, genetics, and ecology. 

APS Students can choose between indepth knowledge in a specific area of interest,  taking additional courses in a scientific discipline for example, or a broad understanding in multiple areas of interest, combining courses in biology and food science for example. 

APS Students develop a program that includes courses in one of three areas of specialization:

• Plant Improvement --genetics, biotechnology
  
• Agroecology -- crop management and sustainable agriculture
• Plant Utilization -- processing of foods, pharmaceuticals and bioenergy 

Aside from a flexible program that fits your interests and career goals, our Applied Plant Science major features:
