Research; alfalfa genetics and breeding.Ph.D.: Nebraska (1985) Year Appointed: 1991 Rank: Adjunct Associate Professor Primary Responsibilities: Research; Alfalfa Genetics and Breeding Research Interests: My research includes basic and applied approaches designed to genetically improve a wide variety of traits in alfalfa. Specific objectives include the evaluation, selection and enhancement of alfalfa germplasms for (1) traits that have the potential for providing new environmental and/or commercial uses for alfalfa such as biomass for electrical energy production and phytoremediation; (2) morphological and physiological traits to improve forage quality, nitrate uptake, and biological nitrogen fixation; and (3) increased persistence and resistance to pathogens.
