Biography

I hold a MSc in Biochemistry (option: Plant Biochemistry and Pathology) from the University of Yaoundé I (Cameroon) in 2005, and a PhD in Crop Cultivation and Farming Systems (option: Crop Physiology) from South China Agricultural University (China) in 2010. Between 2010 and 2011, I was Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences–Applied Botany at the University of Bamenda (Cameroon). Between 2011 and 2018, I held Postdoc Positions in the Agri-Environment and PhytoPathology groups of Centre for the Research and Technology of Agro-Environmental and Biological Sciences (Portugal). For the past 4 years, I worked as Assistant Researcher in the Department of Agronomy of Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (Portugal).

My research focuses on elucidating the role of phytochemicals in the regulation of crop growth and food quality (mainly CEREALS, LEGUME GRAINS, GREEN LEAFY VEGETABLES, and GRAPEVINE), with the aim to induce resistance to diverse biotic and abiotic stresses, and improve the quality and nutritional composition of plant foods. I’m specifically interested in: (i) Physiological and biochemical characterization experiments on crops grown in different climate change (e.g., elevated CO2, temperature, ozone, water deficit, heat wave), disease attacks and cultural practices (e.g., no till, crop mixtures) scenarios. (ii) Sustainable use of agricultural inputs (e.g., pesticides, microbial inoculants, organic amendments, fertilizers, plant growth regulators), with a focus on agricultural Nature-based solution approaches such as organic agriculture, regenerative agriculture, integrated pest management, climate-smart agriculture, sustainable intensification, circular agriculture.
