18th annual Plant Sciences Symposium set for April 17

Explore the intersection of plant science and its vital role in society at the 18th Annual Plant Sciences Symposium Friday, April 17, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. in the Cargill Building on the University of Minnesota campus in St. Paul. This year’s theme, Breaking Ground: New Directions in Agricultural Research and Innovation, will highlight the intersection of technology and agricultural research to face the problems of the 21st century.

Keynote speakers include Addie Thompson, associate professor in the Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences at Michigan State University; Justin Lombardoni, ornamental plant breeder at the Chicago Botanic Garden; James Satterlee, assistant professor in the Department of Botany at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; and Alencar Xavier, who leads the Corteva Agrisciences' breeding analytics in Latin America and Africa.

The Plant Sciences Symposium is an annual program organized by students in the Applied Plant Sciences program and sponsored by Corteva Agriscience.
